This two day field trip took place from 3th to 4th of June 2017<\/strong> and was concipated to visit mainly Fe, Mn and fluorite deposits in the central part of Kru\u0161n\u00e9 hory Mts. (Erzgebirge)<\/span> with some additional stops on other deposits.<\/p>\n

First day<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

We started the excursion in town Horn\u00ed Blatn\u00e1<\/strong>. Here we visited vein of Marie Terezie and heap of Concordia <\/strong>adit . Minerals occurring there were mostly Mn ore \u2013 pyroluzite. We found also quartz in small crystals up to 3 mm. Then we moved to \u201eAmetystov\u00e1 Hal\u017ee\u201c near Horn\u00ed Hal\u017ee<\/strong> village. This site is old mining part of M\u011bd\u011bnec district and there is a large number of surface exposure of old mining activity. We found mostly amethyst and quartz crystals, ordinarily in clusters up to 7 cm and the primary Fe ores like limonite and pyrite.<\/p>\n

After first part of the excursion we moved to rock formation called \u201eSphings\u201c <\/strong>near town M\u011bd\u011bnec formed by very high pressure deformed \u201eeyes-schist\u201c from Variscian orogeny processes.<\/p>\n

\"DSCN4446\"<\/a>From this place we could see landscape of Doupovsk\u00e9 hory volcanic centre. Our another stop was at M\u011bdn\u00edk hill<\/strong> near town M\u011bd\u011bnec. This small hill is the skarn body preparated by erosion in Quaternary and one of the most mined Fe and Cu deposit in early modern age. We ascended to the top of the hill around old skarn heaps and there was lecture about local mining from medieval to the end of 20th century.<\/p>\n

Second day<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

\"DSCN4502\"<\/a>The weather condition did not allow us to see all three fluorite deposits in Kru\u0161n\u00e9 hory Mts. according to former plan, but only Hradi\u0161t\u011b<\/strong> fluorite deposit near Kada\u0148 town and Kl\u00e1\u0161t\u011brec nad Oh\u0159\u00ed town. This small deposit was mined for barite, fluorite and hematite. We found only fluorite and hematite samples. After that we moved to The Chateau at Kl\u00e1\u0161terec nad Oh\u0159\u00ed town, where was also an exhibition<\/strong> of local minerals. We saw very nice samples of polished agates from Horn\u00ed Hal\u017ee village, \u010cern\u00fd Potok vil., Cibou\u0161ov vil. and other sites.<\/p>\n

After that we visited local spa area and we drank local hydrothermal water from the spring. \"P1270149\"<\/a>This hydrothermal energy is caused by volcanic activity bound on Oh\u0159e rift and was formed mostly in Tertiary. Then we moved to quick visit of Ahn\u00edkov (former vil.)<\/strong> \u2013 site with minerals of weathering of laterites. We found specific minerals like white and purple chalcedone, green chryzotile and small crystals of quartz. After that we moved to our last site which was Lehnschafter <\/strong>adit<\/strong> in Mikulov town. Mikulov was mined mostly for Ag ores like Ag-rich galenite.<\/p>\n
